You might be in for an interesting day. . .

if your clothes can stand up on their own.

This is the United States Army Individual Body Armor (IBA) and Advanced Combat Helmet (ACH).

The ACH is a much improved version of the kevlar combat helmet that I was first introduced to in the summer of 1993.  The suspension system is excellent, and the weight of the helmet has been reduced by approximately twenty to thirty percent compared to the earlier incarnation. Although lighter the helmet offers improved the ballistic protection compared to earlier versions.

The IBA also offers excellent ballistic protection, but it weighs in at between thirty and forty pounds.  I have heard it called both an anti-mobility and anti-manuever suit.

All kidding aside the IBA is a good piece of kit that offers a great deal of protection that is saving soldiers lives although the protection comes at a "cost" due to the IBA's weight.  It's not bad to wear after about a week of acclimatizing to the limitations it imposes on the human body.
